Nefarious activity on clubhouse parking lot
Hi Folks,
Safety is a top priority here. I want everyone to be aware of the illegal activity that has been taking place at our clubhouse and pool area between the hours of 8 pm and 4 am.
In my last email I did inform every one of a group of 5 young men in our pool from 12 am to 3 am on the night of February 28.
I have been reviewing the video tapes over the past few weeks to find out the almost nightly we have a stream of young adults entering our pool bathrooms illegally. One evening I spotted a white pickup truck pull into the lot and park at the far end. He appeared to be selling drugs because several cars pulled in next to him and spent a few minutes and left. One of the cars pulled up closer to the clubhouse and 3 young adults got out and illegally entered our pool bathrooms.
The following day I checked the bathrooms and found evidence of drug use. Heroin to be specific. I called the Collier County Sheriff and reported this activity. Two evenings ago I checked our cameras at 9 pm and saw a car pulling in. Again 3 young adults got out and entered the pool bathrooms. I immediately called the Sheriff and they rolled out. They caught the 3 people and arrested them. I am now watching the cameras nightly and working with the Sheriff’s Dept. to put a stop to this illegal activity.
I found out the people were using a branch to wave in front of the lock release in order to enter the pool area. Now the touch-less buttons at both the courts and pool areas are being replaced by push buttons with lids over them to prevent this from happening. Please make sure that you fully close the gates prior to leaving either tennis court or pool area.
I would like to ask that all residents and landlords talk to the residents of the home and let them know that this behavior will not be tolerated. If anyone enters the clubhouse, tennis courts or pool area after hours, they will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I will also ask that everyone stay out of the clubhouse parking lot area at night. While watching the video I saw a couple of dog walkers walk right past these vehicles. I have no idea if the people engaged in shady behavior would be dangerous or not, but I don’t want anyone to be in an unsafe situation. Where drugs are concerned, who knows what people would do.
I am considering a gate or chain of some type to install at the beginning of driveway to the clubhouse to prevent people from entering the parking lot after hours. Any homeowner with experience in this area please contact me.
Thank you all for being vigilant in this matter.
Warm regards,
Nancy J. Perry
