SURVEY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Hi All,
You should have received a survey on Monday around 5:00 PM regarding the holiday lights. I have about 500 responses so far. I would like to get at least 1000. It will be available for 30 days. If you did not receive it, please check your spam folder. If it’s still missing, contact the office so we can confirm we have your correct email address.

The purpose of this survey is to gauge community interest in allocating funds for white lights on the palm trees at our entrances. The pricing included in the survey reflects three bids we received to wrap the palms in the same manner as was done prior to 2024.

To clarify, this decision does not require a formal community vote. It is an expense the Board can include in the budget. However, we are seeking input because of past issues. In previous years, the white lights frequently malfunctioned due to GFI outlets tripping when exposed to moisture. This occurred multiple times nightly, leading to resident complaints and requiring Jason and I to go out to reset the breakers. At that time, the cost to rent and install the lights was $10,000.00, and the system did not perform reliably.

To address these issues, the Board chose to discontinue the white lights and instead install community-owned decorations. Most feedback on this change has been very positive. However, some residents have expressed strong concerns, both on Nextdoor and at the annual Board Meeting, about the absence of the white lights.

In an effort to make this decision as inclusive and transparent as possible, we are asking for your input through this survey. The results will guide whether the community moves forward with spending approximately $20,000 to reinstall the white lights.

Please note that we currently have green and red uplighting and garland on our monuments, all of which are owned by the community.

Thank you for taking the time to participate. This approach allows us to reach a fair and final decision that reflects the preferences of the community. I will be sending out more surveys in the future. Please respond so you have a voice in your community.

Warm regards,
Nancy J. Perry
